Dear Tonkawa,
How are you? It’s hard right now, believe me I know. I’ve been thinking for quite some time about what I’d like to say to you today. You’ve been on my mind, and in my prayers. I know things are rough and bumpy during these times, but I am hopeful.
Tonkawa, please hear me. As a high school senior, I have been deeply affected by the necessary changes being made because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I think I can speak for my class as a whole when I say that the worries are almost overwhelming. We’re trying to be strong, but these last few months of school were supposed to be filled with irreplaceable memories. We should be attending baseball games and track meets. We should be spending time in class and spending time with our friends. The thought of having our senior prom and our graduation postponed or even canceled lingers in our minds. However, we understand the reasoning behind it all and we are here for all of you as I know you are here for us.
Tonkawa, keep your head up. During times like these it’s easy to focus on the negative. So, as you read this, I encourage you to think of a loved one. Think of a friend, a family member, or maybe even a neighbor that you haven’t visited with recently. Reach out to them! Give them a quick text or a call to let them know that you’re thinking of them. Who knows, they might be longing to talk to you. It’ll brighten their spirits, and surely yours as well.
Tonkawa, be faithful. I will ask one thing of you before I go. I will ask that you speak to God today and every day following. I will ask that you pray for healing, for health, and for a happy ending around the globe. Pray for the doctors and the nurses who are working tirelessly. Pray for the sick. Pray that the spread of the virus comes to a halt and that we can carry on with work, school, and all other activities. Talk to Him, He will hear you! I ask that you are faithful and trust in our Father as I do. We needn’t be fearful for He is in control!
With Love,
Ashton
