Funeral services for James Leslie “Sonny” Pedigo, 76, Tonkawa, Oklahoma resident, was held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Tonkawa Event Center with Pastor Phil Erwin and Pastor Josh Reese officiating. Committal prayers and interment followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, under the kind guidance of the Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service.James Leslie (Sonny) Pedigo was born in Blackwell Ok November 2, 1943 to William Leslie Pedigo and Alice Lovina Jensen Pedigo and passed away peacefully on March 4, 2020 at his residence. . He had 6 brothers: Wayne LeRoy, David Leon, Jerry Ludge, Terry Lynn, Harold Lee and Kenneth Lewis. Jerry’s life was taken in a car wreck at the age of 21. Kenneth’s life was taken from a heart malfunction at 11 months old. Wayne passed away from a stroke and heart problems at Veterans Hospital In Muskogee Ok, October 22, 2014. Sonny went to first and second grades at Consolidated 106 East of Newkirk. He went to fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh grades at Center School North East of Tonkawa. He went to eighth grade at Union 61 North of Tonkawa. He went to ninth grade at Talula Louisiana. He went to Tonkawa High School in tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades. Sonny did farm work all through school. He met Phyllis Cobb at Southside Nazarene Church in Blackwell and they were married at Westside Nazarene Church in Ponca City OK on November 11, 1961. They had Kenneth Leslie in 1963 and Daryl James in 1964. Kenny married Teresa Renae Goad on March 17, 1991 and they have 3 girls: Chelsea Nicole, Brianna Dawn and Kinsey Grace. They live in Jenks OK. Chelsea married Keifer Flora February 7, 2015, they had Jensen Dalton on February 28, 2020. Brianna had Paisley Grace May 11, 2015. Daryl married Tammy Michele Young, on August 5, 1995. They live in Tonkawa OK. Sonny started working at Cookson Stone in 1961, then Porter’s Post Yard, Paul A Long Oil Co, Bower’s Trucking and was in a partnership in a logging business. They moved to Tonkawa in 1964 and he worked at William’s Carbide Bit and William’s Machine. He worked for the City of Tonkawa as Electric superintendant and water superintendant for 33 years. He was on the Tonkawa Fire Dept. as a fireman and registered EMT. Worked for Diemer Construction 2000 — 2005. Sonny was also a professional carpenter and through the years has built many things for many people from kitchens and bathrooms to tables and chairs. He loved to work in his shop building or fixing things. He loved a challenge and very seldom fails to be able to figure something out. Sonny and Phyllis were members of the First Presbyterian Church.
