Northern Oklahoma College freshman Lauren Coates and JD Ray were named Student Athletes of the Week for Nov. 24.
Coates is from Luther while Ray is from Midwest City.
For the week, Coates averaged 9.0 points per game, eight rebounds per game, 1.5 assists per game, one steal per game, shot 50 percent from the field and 86 percent from the line.
Lauren (Coates) is doing an outstanding job getting us second shots,” said coach Greg Krause. “She has been averaging four to five offensive rebounds per game. At 5-7, her quickness and anticipation help her chase down second opportunities. She has also dramatically improved her free throw percentage, which is important because her style of play earns her a lot of free throw opportunities.”
Ray averaged 27 points and five assists in two wins last week against Murray State and Western. “JD (Ray) played at a highlevel last week,” said coach Donnie Jackson. “He tied the school record for most 3-pointers made in one game against Western..”
