ENID, Oklahoma -- The NOC Tonkawa Mavericks finished the Enid Festival with a 1-3 record.
On Friday, NOC lost to Iowa Central Community College 5-2 and Des Moines Area Community College 13-0.
On Saturday, the Mavs beat Southwestern (IA) 7-2 and lost to Iowa Central 13-5.
After Saturday’s games, the Mavs are 2-4 on the year.
“We played some really tough teams this weekend but showed lots of promise for the season,” said coach Tori Wilde. “We are making adjustments and will only get better as season goes on.”
Iowa Central 5, Mavs 2
NOC out hit Iowa Central 7-6 but lost 5-2 at Failing Field in Enid.
The Mavs trailed 2-0 in the 3rd when NOC tied the game on a two-run home run by Rachel Rumsey.
Iowa Central then answered with three unanswered runs to take the 5-2 win.
Sophomore Jenna Chassie took the loss in the circle.
Des Moines 13, Mavs 0
The Mavs were shut out Friday afternoon by Des Moines Area 13-0, the Mavs were out hit 12-3.
Kylie Burns, Madison Kettler, and Maggie Landers had hits for the Mavs, all singles.
Laney Hoover suffered the loss in the circle for NOC.
Mavs 7, Southwestern (IA) 2
Jenna Chassie allowed just two runs on three hits over seven innings and Marcela Walker’s two-run home run iced the Mavs 7-2 win. NOC outhit Southwestern (IA) 5-3, Rachel Rumsey had two hits and one run batted in. Katelyn Yee and Hallie Durkee added runs batted in for NOC Tonkawa.
Iowa Central 13, Mavs 5
NOC dropped its final game in the Enid Festival 13-5 to Iowa Central. The Mavs were out hit 14-8. Maggie Landers had three hits for the Mavs including a double .
