The Northern Oklahoma College Mavs routed Redlands 105-58 while the Lady Mavs fell 102-75 Thursday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.
NOC (23-3) improved to 9-3 in OCAC play. The 13th ranked Mavs are in 3rd place in Region 2 behind Murray State and NEO.
The Mavs women (3-21), are winless in league play.
Mavs 102, Redlands 75
Avante Lederer led a balanced attack with 19 points in an easy 105-58 rout of Redlands Thursday night.
Demaree King added 18 points while Tyrel Morgan had 15, Barron Tanner 14, Deaveon Bankston 11, and Syrus Grisby 11.
The Mavs shot 54 percent from the field and 40 percent from 3-point range.
“It’s always good to win on Homecoming,” said coach Donnie Jackson. “I’m proud of Demaree (King) for being named Homecoming king. He’s been around three years so it’s good to see that all the students voted for him.”
“We played with pretty consistent energy for the most part,” Jackson said. “I do think we need to guard and rebound better.”
“We have a big game with 12th ranked Murray on Monday,” he added. “They have won 13 in a row and are a really deep team that is really well coached. We need to have two good days of practice to prepare for this contest. I hope to see a big contingent of Mavericks fans at the game.”
Redlands 102, Lady Mavs 75
Cassie Manning led NOC with 26 points in a 102-75 loss to Redlands.
Chideyah Guyton had 17 points while Radina Zhivachka had
11. Lauren Coates and Hannah Maples added 10 points each.
“Our transition defense and help defense were problems for us tonight,” said coach Greg Krause. “We had a couple of good runs offensively, but we still have to work on a sustained effort for forty minutes.”
The Lady Mavs shot 35 percent from the floor and 38 percent from 3-point range. The Mavs were 85 percent (22-27) from the foul line.
NOC stayed with the Cougars in the first quarter trailing 23-21 but Redlands had a 29 point second quarter to take a 52-36 lead at half.
