at carmen classic this weekend
Tonkawa Buc wrestling had a good week.
They won their first dual of the season, 45-27 over Barnsdall at Homecoming last Tuesday night. (See related story and pictures page 3)
In the Western Conference tournament this past weekend at Kingfisher, both junior high and varsity teams finished eighth.
Tristan Burdick was the lone champion in high school at 145 pounds and also won an award for making the most pins in the least amount of time.
Beau Murphy at 113 and Joby Jauregui at 152 both finished second.
In the junior high division, Lance Terrell won first at 140 pounds and was awarded the outstanding wrestler. Jadin Howard placed second at 126 and Dalton Pierce sixth in the same weight division.
In the Barnsdall dual, Beau Murphy at 113, Carson Robinson at 126, Landon Strong at 138 and Miccael Brown at 285 all way by falls. Ethan Howard at 170 won by dec. 12-8. Gabe summers at 132, clay Massey at 145, Tristan Burdick at 152 all won by forfeit.
The team was to go to Pawhuska Tuesday night for another dual.
Both midhi and high school will wrestle at the Carmen Classic at Pawhuska this Friday and Saturday. Action gets under way at noon both days.
