Dennis Buss was presented a certificate at the recent meeting of the mayor and city council.
The Certificate of Recognition was presented Buss in “recogn ition of an award for 2019 american Quarter Horse Associaton’s world Champion in Amateur ranch Sorting.
At the Dec. 17 meeting of the council, Councilmen Kenneth Smith, Glenn Cope, Jack Evans, Scott Klufa and Stacy Burns:
-- Approved an amendment to the personnel manual concerning military leave.
-- Tabled bids for the automatic vehicle exhaust removal system for the Fire Department and re-advertise.
-- Discussed cost estimated for three water line projects and approved City Manager Kirk Henderson proceed with the application for the 2020 CDBG Phase II water construction grant for the water line going to the water wells. the city has been working with Cardinal Engineering and Mareta woodard on a comprehensive infrastructed improvement plan. The three projects include
1. Replacing the 12” water line from the out-of-town basin to the river, 2. Cap, seal and remove the abandoned hand dug well (old well #2), and 3. Start replacing the 10” case iron water line starting at the water tower and going south on Public, then east and west on North Ave. It is under consideration to upsize this line to 12”. Engineers are working towards a $300,000 project to apply for the 2020 CDBE water construction grant with the city match of $150,000.Woodard will write and administer the grant. A public hearing will be held before the Jan. 21 meeting of the council.
-- Approved the financial report. The city has $7,842,472 total cash with $2,229,026 unrestricted and $5,613,446 restricted.
-- Approved the new contract with the Chamber of Commerce removing the item number providing for office space for the Tonkawa Development Authority. TDA will now be officed at city hall.
