Adair Accepts Fairview Post
Former City Manager Roy Adair has accepted a position as city manager of Fairview effective today.
Adair started to work Thursday morning as Fairview’s second city manager. He succeeds John Davidson, who held the position for three years. Davidson went to Fairview at the same time Adair came to Tonkawa as city manager.
The two cities have identical city codes books which are simultaneously compiled, arranged and codified by Charles F. Spencer, president of East Central State college of Ada in 1952.
Adair resigned as Tonkawa’s city manager effective June 30. He met with Fairview councilmen and officials several weeks ago and was interviewed by Mayor O. D. DeWitt and others here Saturday.
The former city manager said he planned to move to Fairview as soon as suitable housing can be found.
Tonkawa ROTC Student Goes
On Firing Line at Fort Sill
Paul A. Moore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore, 110 North
Main, a student at the University of Oklahoma, is now in his third week of field training with the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps at
Fort Sill, the artillery center of the world.
During the second week of the ROTC camp Moore was on the firing line with the M-1 rifle.
His unit took to the field for service practice during which time he actually fired the artillery cannons and had the opportunity to direct shell fire on hostile targets. During the period the artillery weapons were displaced to new combat firing positions in a manner to avoid detection by the enemy.
This training brought out the first of many lessons on living in the field under combat conditions. Most important is the opportunity to be engaged in the never-ending process of developing as a troop leader and unit commander.
The six week camp will be completed on July 30.
