The Northern Oklahoma College Mavs remained unbeaten with two wins in the Maverick Classic this past weekend.
NOC (5-0) whipped Lamar (CO) 98-76 and Allen County (KS) 81-55.
“It was good to open up at home with two wins in our classic against two well coached and talented teams,” said head coach Donnie Jackson.”
“I was real proud of Demaree King,” Jackson added. “Even though he didn’t shoot the ball real well, he found other ways to score. Syrus (Grigsby) really stepped up and showed what he is capable of. We could really use his rebounding, but he has to make that a priority.”
“We need to clean some things up if we want to be able to compete in conference,” he said. “Rebounding has to improve. We also have to get better at guarding the 3-point line. Teams are shooting the lights out from 3 against us.”
“We have a big week coming up with three games. We need to improve this week in practice and learn how to handle the rigors of playing a college basketball schedule.”
