It was Homecoming. It was also the first A-5 district ball game of the season.
Regan Mulligan was crowned the 2019 Tonkawa football homecoming queen. Peyton Day served as the kissing captain.
Brothers Kai and Peyton Day got the scoring started when they tackled the Drumright punter in the endzone for a safety.
Then on the kickoff, Parker Miller retuned it 46 yards for a score.
And the scoring clinic was under way.
Peyton Day caught the first of two touchdown passes from Tristan Burdick from 10 yards out on a 30-yard, 3 play drive set up by an Austin sharp fumble recovery.
On the Bucs’ next possession, Kai Day ran 48 yards for a TD. Burdick had a 12 yard run in the 63 yard, five play drive. With Carson Robinson’s PAT kick, the Bucs were up 22-0 after the first quarter.
The Bucs just kept piling on.
Kai Day scored next on a 63-yard, six play drive from two yards out early in the second quarter. That drive was set up by a Nathan Anderson fumble recovery caused by Miller.
Cody Morgan then caught a 26 yard TD pass from Burdick to up the score to 35-0 in a one play drive. That was set up when the Tornadoes gambled on fourth and one, but Austin Sharp was there to stop the effort.
Peyton Day picked up his second TD of the first half on a 28 yard pass from Burdick with just 15 seconds left in the first half on yet another one-play drive. It was set up on a 15 yard punt after Kai Day, Justin lindley and Noah Campbell caught Drumright runners for losses of four, two and three yards.
And the scoring wasn’t over.
Jadin Howard picked up a Drumright fumble and ran it across the goal-line from 26 yards away just 13 seconds later to give the Bucs their final first half advantage 47-0.
