Former Bucs to Get MD Degrees
City Produces Three Doctors
One twelve-hundredths of Tonkawa’s population will receive medical doctor degrees in graduation ceremonies next week!
Three young Tonkawa men, all graduates of Tonkawa high school and former football lettermen, will receive their MD Degrees in commencement exercises the first week of June.
Graduating from the Oklahoma School of Medicine at Oklahoma City on June 6 will be Lawrence Mann and Charles Marsh and from the school of Medicine of Tulane university at New Orleans on June 1 will be Julian Harwell.
Mann is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mann, 416 North Sixth,
Marsh is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Marsh, 806 North Seventh.
Harwell is the son of Mrs. Charles McElmurry, east pavement, and
Clyde Harwell, Oklahoma City.
Mann graduated from Tonkawa high school in 1945 and served a year in the Navy in 1945-46. He received a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma A&M college, Stillwater, in 1950 and was a member of Alpha Pi Mu honorary pre-medical fraternity.
At OU he affiliated with the Phi Chi medical fraternity. Mann will intern at Hillcrest Memorial hospital, Tulsa, after his graduation.
Both Harwell and Marsh graduated in the class of 1946 at
Tonkawa high school and finished at Northern Oklahoma Junior college in 1948.
Marsh attended Phillips university at Enid for two years after he graduated at NOJC and then enrolled in the Oklahoma School of
Medicine. He will do his intern work in Portland, Ore.
Harwell received his bachelor of science degree at Tulane in
1950 and is affiliated with Kappa Sigma social fraternity. He will do intern work at Baptist Memorial hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Presbyterian Men Attend Ponca Meet
Twelve members of the Presbyterian Men’s association attended a meeting of Presbyterian Men in Ponca City, Tuesday night and heard a talk by Dr. Waldo Stephens, Oklahoma City, well known authority on international affairs.
Attending from Tonkawa were O. E. McKenzie, Roy Adair, Otto
Strecker, Henry Thede, Rev. Eugene Surface, Raymond Brining,
Dr. R. P. Carter, R. L. Crowder, Clark McKee, Joe Doby, Don Perkins and Joe Hochderffer.

Schiltz, McAninch Are Re-Elected To Co-op
Two board members, Mike Schiltz, Ponca City and J. W. McAninch, Tonkawa were re-elected to three year terms on the board of directors of the Farmers Co-op Association at the annual meeting
Tuesday, May 6 at Round Grove Community Center.
Approximately 300 persons attended the dinner meeting. Wayne
