Tonkawa Students To Join Aggie Frat
Two Oklahoma A&M college students from Tonkawa will be initiated into the Aggie chapter of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society May 28 preceding the groups annual spring banquet.
Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is based on scholarship and character, and members are taken from among seniors and graduate students in the upper 10 percent of the graduating class of their division.
Tonkawa students and the school in which they are enrolled are
Elouise Joy Frudy, home economics, and John E. Prather, commerce.
Pat Casey Works On Display of Art
Patricia Casey of Tonkawa has helped arrange the current display of art in the University of Oklahoma Art Museum.
Some 200 pieces of art will be shown until May 24, John O’Neil, director of the art school, said.
Miss Casey is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Casey, 300
South Pine.
Top Students To Get Awards
Awards in music, commerce, journalism, and athletics will be presented in the annual awards assembly at Northern Oklahoma
Junior college Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Wilkins auditorium. H. R.
Harold, dean of the college, announced today.
The annual assembly, which climaxes curricular and extra-currIcular campus activities, will give recognition to those students who have contributed most in the departments and school activities that they represent.
The program will be in charge of the student senate, with Gerald
Cooper, president, presiding. The Nojoc Strays, directed by Lowell Clark, instructor in fine arts, will play.
A new award this year is a prize for special achievement in mathematics presented by the Chemical Rubber company. Mayo
G. Shults, instructor in mathematics, will announce the winner.
Glenn McNickle, president of the Engineers club, will present a tuition scholarship for next year to the freshman engineering student who has made the highest grade average this year.
Music recognition awards will be made by Miss Rhoda Sharp, chairman of the department of fine arts; Miss Dorothy Lung, sponsor of “The Maverick,” NOJC newpaper, will present journalism awards; Olin Walcher, chairman of the department of business, commerce awards; Ivan L. Foster, chairman of the athletic committee, athletic awards and letters.
Dean Harold will present the Alumni Scholastic gold medals, which are given each year to the man and women graduates who have maintained the highest grade average during their two years college work.
Friends of the college have been invited to attend the assembly.
