First PTO meeting Aug. 20
The Tonkawa Elementary School PTO will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20. The school is collecting donations at “Meet the Teacher” night and the first few days of school, Aug. 15-20. for the medical supply cabinet. Every items that a student donates he/she will be entered into a drawing to win one of two $25 gift cards from walmart. The drawing will be held at the PTO meeting Aug. 20. Items needed include regular and large band-aids, chewable children’s Tylenol, liquid children’s Tylenol, chewable children ibuprofen, liquid children’s ibuprofen, chewable children’s pepto bisbmol, adult ibuprofen (200mg), adult Tylenol (325 mg), burn relief spray, cough drops, baby orajel, anti-itch spray or ointment, ziplock bags (gallon size tip top).

The 89th birthday reception for Josephine Williamson will be Saturday, August 10, from 2-4 p.m. at the Tonkawa Nutrition Center. No gifts, please.

The Tech-Wise Family Saturday
Do you feel like that glowing rectangle is dominating you and your children’s lives? Do you think there has to be a better way? You’re invited on August 10th for free showing of Andy Crouch’s The Tech-Wise Family. All parents and students aged 12 and up are encouraged to attend and childcare will be provided for those younger. It will be 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Christian Life Church. As an author, speaker, and musician, Andy Crouch has shaped the way our generation sees culture, creativity, and the gospel.
‘Good Vibrations’ car show Aug. 17
The annual “Good Vibrations” car and truck show and bicycle contest will be Saturday, Aug. 17 at Blinn Park in Tonkawa. It is sponsored by the Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Caregivers support group in Tonkawa
The Kay County Caregivers support group meets from 4-6 p.m. the first Monday of every month at 118 S. Seventh, Tonkawa, across the street from the Tonkawa city offices. It is sponsored by long term care authority and the Area Agency of Aging.
Anyone assisting with the care of a family member, friend or loved one is welcome to attend. Goals of this group are to provide social interaction with other care givers such as yourself and to inform people about resources and information available for the care for a loved one.
