Come meet and talk with Kay County legislators 7 a.m. Friday, June 14, at Mary’s Grill. Sen. Bill Coleman and Rep. John Pfeiffer will be giving voters a re-cap on the just-concluded Oklahoma State legislative session. they will also be taking questions.
Farmer’s Market this Friday
Farmer’s Market will be Friday, June 7, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the old depot. Gloria’s Goodies will have Cinnamon Rolls, Koloche, French Bread, Salsa and BBQ Sauce, Sue will have her homemade soaps and bath bombs. Also cowboy candy and there will be a variety of other venders with homemade items.
Tonkawa midhi summer pride begins
Tonkawa midhi football summer pride is now under way, Head Coach Gage Martin announced this week. It will be at 9 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Meet at the midhi locker room on those mornings.
Pre-kindergarten spots limited; enroll
Tonkawa Elementary School Pre-Kindergarten spots are limited. If you have a child who will be 4 by September 1st, you need to pre enroll. The elementary office is open 8-4, Monday-Thursday. Please come by and reserve your spot.
THS alumni board meets tonight
The Tonkawa High School Alumni Board will meet on Thursday, June 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the THS Library.
Benefit for Linda Williams Sunday
A Sunday luncheon June 9 will benefit Linda Williams of Tonkawa. She is fighting lymphoma at M.D. Anderson in Houston, Texas. she and David have been in Houston since the first week of February for treatments. The community is wanting to help them with accommodations, food and transportation. The luncheon fundraiser and bake sale will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 9 at the Methodist Church Family Center. Cost is $9 for pulled pork, chips, drink and dessert. cash, check, credit card and paypal are accepted.
Tonkawa softball camp starts Monday
A Tonkawa softball camp will be held June 10-12 from 9 a.m. to noon at the high school softball field, according to Coach kelsey Smith.
It will be for those entering K-5th grades. The camp will work on catching, throwing, hitting, fielding, base running, etc. Forms are available at the high school and elementary offices.
