The Northern Oklahoma College Board of Regents met on Tuesday at their monthly Regents meeting at NOC Enid. Chair Chad Dillingham presided over meeting with Regents Jeff Cowan, Jodi Cline, Dale DeWitt and Stan Brownlee present.
Upon conclusion of an executive session, NOC President Cheryl Evans was rehired for next year with unanimous consent from the Board of Regents.
Hired in 2011 as the first female president in the school’s history, Evans has just completed her eighth year serving the institution with locations in Tonkawa, Enid and Stillwater. Chair Dillingham thanked everyone for the feedback during this presidential evaluation process and commented on how much the Regents value and appreciate feedback from those within the Institution.
On behalf of the Board, he stated “We are all very pleased with President Evans and the great leadership she provides for the faculty, staff and students at Northern.”
Board action also included approving board of regents meeting location changes for November and December 2019 along with the 2020 meeting dates; slight rate increases for residential rental properties, facility rental fees and facility usage fees at NOC Tonkawa and NOC Enid.
Also approved were monthly financial reports for May 2019 and monthly Section 13/ New College Fund 600-650 allocation requests for various projects totaling $110,000. Monthly purchases approved over $25,000 included wifi upgrades to Markley Hall, Earl Butts Hall, Bush Duvall Hall and lobby areas – ShotRok for 83,445.54 (Capital Funds), and purchase of a High Performance Liquid Chromatograph (HPLC) – pending bids for $50,000 (Private Funds).
During regents’ comments, Regent Dillingham commented on the wonderful end of the semester activities including commencement.
During the administrators’ monthly updates, Vice President for Enrollment Management Rick Edgington presented the fall 2019 preliminary enrollment report which represents a flat enrollment in student headcount. Summer 2019 preliminary enrollment report reflects a 17% decrease. Vice President for Financial Affairs Ms. Anita Simpson commented that all third year non-compliant employees are now compliant with the Oklahoma Tax Commission for this year.
Additionally, Northern had 61 employees who received their service awards pins in May. Vice President for NOC Enid Dr. Ed Vineyard congratulated the NOC Jets Baseball team for their accomplishment on heading to the World Series.
During the president’s monthly report, Dr. Cheryl Evans announced the NOC Enid 20 year celebration event on June 13.
Next scheduled meeting will be June 19 at NOC Tonkawa.
