“Mike and Dana” will open the 2019 Full Moon Concert Series at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18 in Tonkawa Centennial Park, 301 East Grand.
The popular duo features Mike Ball of Tonkawa on guitar and vocals and Dana Poulson of Ponca City on vocals, performing nostalgic, contemporary and classic sounds.
The May moon is special in that is a “seasonal Blue Moon” – meaning it is the third full moon in a season that has four full moons – the last one occurring in 2016.
Patrons are invited to bring their own snacks, lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the evening. Pets on leashes are welcome. Heart in the Park Committee and North Central Oklahoma Arts Council sponsor the free concerts held May through October on the night of the full
Billed as “Fun for All Ages—and Free!” each concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Tonkawa’s Centennial Park. In case of inclement weather, concerts will move to the Santa Fe Depot, across the street from the park.
Although patrons may walk the world’s only heart-shaped labyrinth at any time, a group walk will be announced during the evening to take place under the light of the full moon, followed by the traditional wolf howl.
The Full Moon Concert scheduled for Monday, June 17 will feature “The Bill Collectors” returning from Enid by popular demand to perform Jamaica Blues, Jazz, Rock and Swing.
