school board rehires faculty, support staff
Six resignations and eight new hires were approved at Monday night’s meeting of the Tonkawa Board of Education.
All were made on the recommendation of Superintendent Lori Simpson.
Teachers and support personnel were also rehired by the board.
Resigning were the following:
-- Lindsey Perkins, midhi hi science
-- Braxie Bixler, second grade
-- Debra Perks, high school computer science
-- Catherine Dyer, kindergarten
-- Judy Cardwell, speech pathologist
-- Lesley Engle, middle school language arts
New hires follow:
-- Aubrey Wilkerson, midhi science
-- Heather Johns, second grade
-- Christina Jernigan, kindergarten
-- Carolee Kirtley, special education
-- Jeri Anderson, first grade
-- Staci Jacques, midhi reading
-- Francis Wecker, high school science (biology, anatomy and physical science).
-- Mike Kirtley, part-time physical education at elementary school
In other action, board members Cara Beth Johnson, Casey McAninch, Jerry Hook, Mary Allan and Nancy Appleman:
-- Approved paying bills totalling $223,405.02 with $53,436.85 from the general fund; $168,217.50 from the sinking fund and $1,750.67 from the lunch fund.
-- Set the date to sell the fourth installment of $530,000 general oblication building bonds for the school district’s 2012 issue on the Event Center for noon June 12.
-- Voted to participate with other Oklahoma districts in paying of litigation fees to Crowe & Dunlevy to recover funds from the Oklahoma State Department of Education from Fiscal year 2014 back to 2004. Tonkawa’s share would be $52,650. The local district has already paid $3,000 and would owe an additional $104.70.
-- Approved the contract for Pat Carroll to audit Tonkawa Public Schools.
-- Approved a contract for Sandy Hladik, school psychometrist.
-- Approved the contract for Dr. Wendi Betz to provide testing services next year.
-- Approved a contract for alcohol and drug testing for next year.
-- Approved a contract for Gabbart Communications to provide E-Notes for next school year.
-- Renewed employment for next for the certified staff members: Elementary - Misty Bess, Shaclair Garcia, Kristy Gilbert, Terri Guthrie, Sonja Honegger, Philip Jernigan, Nicole Jones, Jenna Looper, Kelly Martin, Kim Means, Marcy Mulligan, Ashley Neal, Holly Peart, Nancy Pendleton, Heather Schreen, Heather Shepherd, Jessica Thompson; Mid High/High School - Donna Doyle, Stony Fath, Dale Goodwin, Monica Grein, Wesley Guthrie, Dawn Huff, Tonya Jackson, Micah Keith, Kurt Kirtley, Kelle Klufa, Jamie Means, Kirk Nesbit, Christopher Reeder, Angela Reyes, Connie Shreck, Kyle Simpson, Lori Simpson, Shawn Staton.
