IN 2-0 WIN
ALTUS, Oklahoma -- Northern Oklahoma College’s Trevin Michael tossed a six hit shut out in a 2-0 win over #2 Western on Saturday in Altus.
Western won the second game of the doubleheader 6-3.
NOC (39-12) finished the weekend with a 10-6 conference record while Western (42-8) is 14-2 in Region 2 play.
The Mavs are ranked 9th in NJCAA Division 2.
Mavs 2, Western 0
Jaken Snider’s two run blast in the 3rd inning provided the only runs Trevin Michael would need in the 2-0 win over Western. Snider’s home run scored Ashston Francis giving NOC a 2-0 lead.
Michael (7-1) did the rest allowing six singles, walking one and striking out three throwing 106 pitches.
Western 6, Mavs 3
In Game 2, the Mavs trailed 6-3 before loading the bases in the 7th inning. The Mavs couldn’t capitalize losing 6-3.
Cale Francis’ three run double in the 1st inning scored Dominick Trevino, Cacy Harper, and Joey Pena to give the Mavs an early 3-0 lead. Western took the lead 6-3 in the 5th but the Mavs would give themselves a chance in the 9th as Luke Quick, Trevino, and Kade Marlatt all reached but the Mavs left the bases loaded.
