Ken Smith re-elected mayor; Glen Cope new vice mayor
Ken Smith has been re-elected to a third two-year term as the Mayor of Tonkawa.
Glenn Cope has been elected vice mayor. He replaces Rick Allan.
Members of the new city council elected officers at their April 16 meeting. Councilmen include Smith, Cope, Jack Evans, Stacy Burns and Scott Klufa.
In other action, the council:
-- Approved an ordinance establishing the new zoning map for the city limits.

End of school activities at Tonkawa Public Schools were announced this week by High School Principal Kyle Simpson.

Tuesday, May 7 -- Midhi/high school band concert, 7 p.m. at Event Center.
Wednesday, May 15 -- Midhi/high school vocal concert, 6 p.m. at event Center.
Thursday, May 16 -- Fifth grade farewell to TES, 6 p.m. at Event Center.
Saturday, May 18 -- Senior commencement, 11 a.m. at Event Center.
Tuesday, May 21 -- Awards assembly for high school, 10 a.m.; for midhi at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, May 22 -- Last day of school. der truck.
-- Accepted the engineer’s report for the completion of the new elevated water tower storage tank.
-- Discussed the new city emergency action plan as presented by Brad Esch, who will be assisted by Charles Conaghan.
-- Approved the appointment of Terry Thompson and Annie Owen to the Pride and Beautification committee to replace John and Kelly Kuhlmann who resigned.
-- Approved the bid from Evans and Associates for the new Redbud Avenue just north of Dollar General at a cost of $272,297.84.
-- Approved the city financial report showing $7,471,384 in total cash; with $1,677,070 in unrestricted cash and $5,794,314 in restricted cash.
