Tonkawa Tribal JOM meeting Monday
The Tonkawa Tribal Johnson O’Malley program will be holding a JOM parent meeting on Monday, Aug. 5, at 5:30 p.m. in the Tonkawa Tribal Gym. All parents of Native American students are asked to attend. The meeting will inform parents of JOM eligibility requirements, what is available for each child through the school year, inform parents of new requirements on requesting JOM assistance and to elect new parent committee. Revival at Lamont church Aug. 3-4
A Northern Plains Revival “Let the Light Shine” will be aug. 3-4 at the Prairie view Assembly of God church, 223 W. Maple, Lamont. services will be 6 p.m. saturday and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday. It is presented by Freedom in the spirit Ministries and Witness 731 Christian rock band.
The Tech-Wise Family Aug. 10
Do you feel like that glowing rectangle is dominating you and your children’s lives? Do you think there has to be a better way? You’re invited on August 10th for free showing of Andy Crouch’s The Tech-Wise Family. All parents and students aged 12 and up are encouraged to attend and childcare will be provided for those younger. It will be 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Christian Life Church. As an author, speaker, and musician, Andy Crouch has shaped the way our generation sees culture, creativity, and the gospel.
Leadership Tonkawa applications taken
Applications are open now for Leadership Tonkawa classes beginning Sept. 18. The application deadline is aug. 1. class size is limited to 12. enroll early. Apply at the Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce office at 102 E. Grand.
‘Good Vibrations’ car show Aug. 17
The annual “Good Vibrations” car and truck show and bicycle contest will be Saturday, Aug. 17 at Blinn Park in Tonkawa. It is sponsored by the Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Caregivers support group in Tonkawa
The Kay County Caregivers support group meets from 4-6 p.m. the first Monday of every month at 118 S. Seventh, Tonkawa, across the street from the Tonkawa city offices. It is sponsored by long term care authority and the Area Agency of Aging.
