The Leo Canaday Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Marta Perez-Souza as the recipient for the 2024-2025 academic year. Perez-Sousa is a freshman pre-baccalaureate nursing major from Guadalajara, Spain. She was joined by teammates Keely Hussey and Landri Hussey.The Leo Canaday Memorial Scholarship was established by Leo’s wife Pat. Through the generous support of family and friends, this scholarship provides students an opportunity to pursue their educational goals at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa and is presented to a member of the NOC Women’s Basketball team.Representing the Canaday family this evening, are the late Leo and Pat Canaday’s daughter, Vicki Hardesty, her husband, Allen and their great grandchildren, Leo, Mikaela, and Kylee Hardesty. The Canaday’s daughter Lisa Canaday, who watched the presentation via live-stream from Florida.Assisting in presenting the scholarship certificate to Perez-Sousa was Lady Maverick’s Head Coach Greg Krause, NOC Interim President Diana Watkins, Vice President for Development and Community Relations Sheri Snyder, and NOC Athletic Director Alan Foster.
