School Tax Levies Approved
Tuesday With 94-5 Count
Voters in the local school district voted two five-mill tax levies with a 94-5 majority Tuesday in the annual school election. There was no contest for a board position with Ruel Case, 309 W. Grand, the only candidate to file.
Carried in the election were a five-mill emergency levy. Each tax will result in approximately $15,000 more for the local school system.
The building fund levy can be used only for the construction or remodeling of old buildings or the purchase of furniture for buildings. The emergency levy is considered as enrichment money to be used in any way to better the overall school program.
Little interest was shown in this year’s election as evidence by the 99 total votes cast.
