50 years ago, January 6, 197240 Are Arrested Here In December By City PoliceArrests in the city totaled 40 for the month of December, 13 for traffic offenses and 23 for other offenses, according to a report today by Chief of Police Leon “Pete” Linton.Leading the arrest list was eight persons for public drunk, another for resisting arrest, one for driving while intoxicated, one for interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle and the following: carrying a concealed weapon, 1; Disorderly conduct, 1; minor in possession, 1; transporting an open container, 2; tampering with city property, 3; possession of marijuana, 2; grand larceny, 1 and vandalism, 1, all under investigation.In addition to the traffic arrests, 34 courtesy warnings were issued, eight summons issued and seven traffic accidents investigated. Four persons were sent to Newkirk during the month on county charges.Mrs. America to keynote Tonkawa chamber banquetKimberly Brasher, 1995 Mrs. America, will keynote the 81st annual Tonkawa Chamber of Commerce banquet, president Charles Conaghan announced this week.The banquet will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Northern Oklahoma College cafeteria.
