Mike Bolick Wins Eagle Scout
Award At Court of Honor
An Eagle Scout award, presented to Mike Bolick topped a list of achievement presentations at a court of honor held by Troop 26 Tuesday evening in the First Christian church.
The badge of Eagle Scout was pinned on Mike’s uniform by his mother, Mrs. Parnell Bolick.
Chris Lucas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lucas, was presented the Star Scout award in the ceremonies. He was also presented merit badges for horsemanship and farm lay-out.
In addition to Bolick’s award, he was presented merit badges for camping and citizenship in the home.
Other awards at Tuesday’s ceremonies were: Fred Taylor, camping merit badge; Danny Sipe, beef production and horsemanship badges; David Bloss, book binding and first aid badges; Lynn Watson, first aid merit badge; Bill Hockett, book binding merit badge; R. L. Herren, nature and personal fitness badges; and Rex Herren, nature merit badge.
H. L. Kitchen is Scoutmaster of Troop 26.
38 Students Will Compete
Saturday At Scholastic Meet
Thirty-eight Tonkawa high school students will participate in the annual Edmond Scholastic meet to be held Saturday, April 8 on the Central State campus.
Among those accompanying the group will be Supt. A. J. Evans and Mrs. Evans.
Competing in the event will be: Typing 1, Mary Lou Mills and Claudette Hubbel: Spelling, Connie Esch and Marilyn Heady: Grammar, Ruth King and Bill Burr: Oklahoma History, Mary Lou Bowdlear and Joy Asbury: American History, Sharon Hubbell and Charlotte Veith: Civics, Marilyn Mayes and Diane Michael: World History, Frank Cunningham and Lauralea Taylor: Algebra 1, Carol Veal and Judy McPherson.
Secondary Mathematics: Jim Smithheisler and Carolyn Hawkins: Geometry, Wayne Pedigo and Patty Jueschke: Spanish 1, Tom Sipe: Spanish II, Elizabeth DuRoy: Music, Sheila Thomas: Physics, Robert Campbell: General Science, Bill Harris and John Fix: Biology, Gary Clark and Jan Asbury: Typing II, Judy Asbury and Barbara Smith: Bookkeeping, Ruth King and Phyllis Mourer: Shorthand, Elizabeth DuRoy and Jean Buhrman: American Literature, Thelma Carey and Jill Harris: English Literature, Terry Simmons and Gerald O’Mealey.
Trip Slated To Dallas by Garden Club
A two-day pilgrimage to Dallas, Tex. to be highlighted by the Spring Flower show there is being planned by the Tonkawa Council of Garden club units, according to Mrs. Jack Harris, Council president and tour chairman.
