Goodpasture Is Technologist At Baptist HospitalDennis Goodpasture, son of Mr. and Mrs. Laroy Goodpasture, 207 North Second, has recently been employed as Pulmonary Technologist by the Pulmonary Services Department at Baptist Medical Center of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City.He has been working part-time as a nursing assistant in the Intensive Care Unit and Coronary Care Unit at BMCO since 1967. In 1968, his work and his pre-medical education were interrupted by two years of service in the Army Infantry. This included eleven months in combat in South Viet Nam as Platoon Sergeant.After discharge, he returned to the Intensive Care Area and in July, 1972 graduated from Central State University, Edmond, with a B.S. degree in chemistry and physics.After a period of training, he will assume technical responsibilities for the diagnostic aspects of the Pulmonary Service Department.Fillies Win Two; Are Softball League ChampsThe Tonkawa Fillies are champions of the Little Sunflower League by virtue of winning a double-header over Viola, Kansas last Wednesday night at Caldwell, Kansas. The Fillies won the first game 13-12 and the second game 15-1 on the steady pitching of Jeannie Richards who pitched both games.Viola was the winner of the north division of the league and the Fillies were winners of the southern division and the playoff at Caldwell determined the league championship. The Fillies finished their season with a 27-4 record.Kim Waggoner was the leading hitter with seven hits out of nine times at bat including two home runs. She missed a third home when she was called out at third for missing the base. She scored seven runs in the games. Reta Martin hit 6-9 and scored seven runs; Jeannie Richards was 4-9 and scored four; Judy Wood, 3-7 including a home run and Bonnie Reese was 3-6.Coaches Jim Corbin and Jerry Morrill were happy with their team’s season and said the prospects for next year are encouraging.
