Hey, Tonkawa!
Congratulations to Hannah Haley on being my first Buc of the Week! I chose Hannah because she puts her heart into absolutely everything she does. Her hard work and dedication is truly inspiring to everyone around her, including me. She is a ray of sunshine and positivity no matter the situation. Hannah is a junior this year. She is an active member of the Humanitarian Club. She also runs track and cross country. You’ve probably spotted her running around town!
I first started off by asking Hannah what she’s been missing most about school and sports since the quarantine began. She responded, “I miss seeing my friends and my coach and all my teachers. I miss track, I was planning on making my best time this year- to get on that podium. She said her goal was to make it to state track with her team.
Hannah was most excited to attend her first prom this year. Which, I can understand, because I was so excited for prom this year too! She said, “I had my dress, my shoes, everything. I was ready to dance until I couldn’t feel my legs, and laugh with all my friends.” Hannah was also really looking forward to her track season. She has been working non-stop. “Last year, I didn’t get to run because I fractured the neck of my femur.” However, Hannah knows that she can use this time wisely to prepare for next school year’s cross country meets.
I asked Hannah what her favorite quarantine activity has been. Her reply, “Making my first garden. We are growing cucumber, tomatoes, squash, and strawberries.” She also really enjoyed playing virtual bingo with the Baptist Church!
My next question was: “If you would’ve known that you would not go back to school after spring break, what would you have done differently on your last day.” Hannah said that she would have made different plans and spent more time with her friends.
Hannah says that once the quarantine is over, she will be meeting up with her friends again! She is excited for cross country season and seeing her wonderful teachers. She plans to carry some of the new things she’s learned during these times with her into the future, “...like ...
