Gene Vincent Dougherty, 92, of Tonkawa, OK, passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Gene was born in Hinton, OK, not far from the Dougherty family homestead. He is the last remaining Dougherty of his generation of 53 cousins. He contracted polio as a toddler, but despite his health issues - or maybe because of them - he developed an interest and skill in art at an early age. “I can’t remember ever wanting to do anything else. I recall when I was about six years old seeing a flooded farm covered with flocks of ducks and waterfowl…I went home and drew ducks for a year”.

On Monday June 13, 2022, Garry Wallace O’Mealey passed away of natural causes at the age of 81. He leaves behind his wife Ann of the home, son, Jason Farias and wife April, and grandson Holden, daughter Anna Lena Kashirskiy and husband Alexander. Garry is survived by his brother Dr. Gerald O’Mealey and wife Peggy of Tonkawa, OK sister Elma Jean Danford and husband Jerral of Fort Morgan Colorado, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a few great-great nieces and nephews. Ann and Garry were together over 23 years and celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary on April 7th, 2022.

On May 27th 2022, Gayle Louise Willbrant Kuchera, with her sons by her side, passed away in her home in Tonkawa, OK at the age of 84. Gayle was born at home on a farm north of Washington, Kansas. She attended the first eight years of her schooling in a one-room schoolhouse ½ mile from her home. She graduated from Washington High School in 1955, Fairbury Jr. College (Nebraska) in 1957 and Emporia State College (Kansas) in 1959 with an elementary teaching degree. In 1956 she married John Kuchera Jr., who she shared 55 years with before his passing. To this union, two boys, Stephen Jack and Craig Allen, blessed their lives.
