Time Machine

Word was recently received here by Mr. and Mrs. Therman Frazier, rural Tonkawa, that their son, Lt. Colonel Therman E. Frazier, has assumed command of the 905th Air Refueling Squadron at Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota. The squadron flies the KC-135 jet tanker aircraft and provides refueling support for the B-52H nuclear bombers of the 319th Bomb Wing at Grand Forks. The 905th ARS also supports world-wide refueling commitments with scheduled deployments to Southeast Asia, Europe and Alaska.

As you look around this week you will see more and more signs of Christmas. Our city Christmas Tree is up and decorated; we enjoyed a great celebration and parade. The stores are all decked out with Christmas. So all the “signs” of Christmas are in place.

An Example of an Egyptian Feminist for Iran Today

With all that is going on in our nation, it is understandable if you have not been paying attention to what is going on in Iran. However, it is something worth our attention. Suffice to say that back in September, a 22-year-old women named Mahsa Amini died in custody of the morality police for improperly wearing her hijab or head scarf. Her death has led to protests across Iran and a brutal crack-down from the government that has led to at least 300 deaths.

Hadestown

This article does not fit in with my traditional column, yet it does have a historical component and my editor felt that my Historically Speaking readers might enjoy it. With the traveling Broadway production “Hadestown” currently crossing the nation, I thought I would make a few comments about the show. Most of all, I loved it. Amazing production on all levels. “Hadestown” is a retelling of the Greek myths of Hades and Persephone as well as Orpheus and Eurydice.
